Open Source Add-On's in the Latest Update?

Apps

Taking a step back from the actual program, we updated. These updates centered around our push for Open Source "Add-on's". I have heard nothing but great things when it has come to Open Source Community, so we are dipping our toe in the water and joining the Community.

In Researching Open Source, we found that every project should include the following documentation:

We have successfully applied all documents to the Hive repository and are still working on getting all documents prepared and attached to The HoneyComb repository found in Github.

The Hive will be an Open Source Library Add-on application. Where all the Designers will be represented in a slide format.

The HoneyComb will also be an Open Source Add-on but a grid based program created to assist in the layout planning of a users project.

We welcome any and all assistance in these two programs. The sooner we can get these finished, the sooner we can attach them to the core program and the closer we are to production.

Here we also did some tweaking. We added a "Contribution" Page to support interests in the Open Source. We chose to duplicate that page and add the same principles to CWST's website. We want to concentrate on keeping "Go BB Design" a landing page for the consumer and CWST's website as information and contribution hub of all it's projects. So we may still be altering or tweaking "Go BB Design's" website to best feature our intentions.

Now with Our website, we chose to fine tune our efforts in the whole look of the site from taking the video "Pages"(if you recall the page(s) would load very slowly on some systems and would draw heavy on the GPU's of some pc's, if you had not visited us prior to this "News" release, then you were not subjected to this phenomenon and we made that choice with you in mind) and removed them and replaced them with a basic background page; to tweaking how it looks on mobile.

Was the granddaddy of the major shakers of this update. With the intentions of turning to the Open Source Community to assist us in gaining ground and hopefully gaining momentum to get BB to Production by turning the two add-on's into Open Source programming, we opened up to the possibilities of volunteers contributing. This change also got us to add:

A place for consumers or designers to interact with the Professionals that are in the Forum willing to help consumers and programmers through answer any questions and concerns with the software and it's features, in hopes of making "Go BB Design" a great contribution to the DIY community as well as the Professional Home Improvement Community. We coined the title "The P.I.T" to reference the Cherry pit as well as it standing for "The Professionals In Today". We anticipate this to being the cornerstone of many successes that will be found in our future productions and look forward to big things built in here.

The Wiki and Github is where we keep the Open Source Community informed of our repositories. Those true to wiki noticed that we capitalize the "W" to stand out from a true wiki in hopes the Community will transform it to the later. The intent behind wiki's are to inform and right now we hope this will. Our time and our talents are against us and we look forward to working with extraordinary talents from the volunteers in the Open Source Community to help make our programs, our software extraordinary. So please, if you have those talents and time come and join us.

The Donation section is another new offer. Your donations help keep projects like BB Design great! Donations are used solely for purchasing hardware to improve and extend the goals of the CWS&T's current projects, travel for conferences, and administrative costs and fees. We ask that if you find the software useful and would like to support our efforts, please consider donating what you think the software would be worth.

Get your BB Gear here! Purchasing BB gear helps just as much as a donation, and you get something in return! Checkout our store for BB branded gear, we are regularly adding new products so check back the store often.

Miscellaneous

Some of the Miscellaneous tasks we performed with this update are:

  1. Name Change: We changed the name of "Blog" to News. That was needed to flow with the theme of our content.

  2. Tweaks: We tweaked here we tweaked there but if you are new to us you would not notice.

  3. Roadmap: We added a "roadmap" to configure help the volunteers and staff to map out bugs, changes, or future features. We hope this also assists the Pros and the Suppliers in what to look forward to and to contribute any ideas too. This service is through Trello (which is a thirdparty service) and you can find CWST's, The Hive, and The HoneyComb's boards there. Now this maybe zealous to have three and if it should become to tedious to keep up with all three we may cut back to just our board.

So that is all we have for now, remember "Dream Responsibly" and we will keep you posted.
